Commission sketch - Akhal Teke by Aomori Commission sketch - Akhal Teke by Aomori
Sketch of a commission for :iconentaie:
to be used on www.equirealm.com

I'm presenting you bay Akhal Teke (bay can be really a difficult colour to paint ^^;)
It's so very unusual breed, a little to skinny for me, but I like their necks, so long and slim, very elegant

Now I see that, when I know nothing about equine anatomy and I was drawing horses with such long legs I should just be telling that these are Akhals :giggle:

:? One thing is bothering me... I feel like this horse have too big hooves.. don't you think?

Mm, my equisona's an Akhal Teke.

I love their personalities; even though they're unique in shape they have such interesting and intriguing minds. Of course I haven't met one (I wish) but I've been reading about them for a while.

You did a beautiful job with the face and neck. Can't wait to see what it turns into. ;D

They look awesome wearing all those 'jewelry' on their necks. It's really a very unique breed :)

Yeah, and I drew my equisona with one of those jeweled necklaces.

I think Akhal Tekes and Egyptian Arabs are my favourite breeds. Anything exotic, really.

They are somehow similar to arabians, but even if I feel good in horses that have arabian type build this one was very difficult tor me, I'm glad that he looks okay ^^

Akhal-tekes and Arabians vie off for being known as the longest/oldest/purest breeds.

I personally think that the Akhals were a bit before the arabians. =D

Rumors have that the Akhal-tekes were stolen from Turk-men to breed with their horses, to better the arabian's endurance.
In ancient Persia they were known as Nisaean, and several centuries later called Parthians.

I've found some pretty interesting sites about them, even the first few pages if you Google "Akhal-Teke History"

Sorry if I seem to rabble a bit about them.

Akhals are from Russia, but they may be somehow connected with Arabians, as many other breeds :)

Hmm, I think the hooves look just the right size, at least when I googled some pictures of Akhals! The tail in the other hand looks a bit too thick in the end, maybe make it slightly thinner? :)

Otherwise, looks great so far!
